Well... Not quite yet... but tomorrow she will! Hopefully by the end of the weekend a majority of the metalwork will be done so Sexy Sadie (the bare metal car) will have the roofline of Andreas' car (the painted one.)

I've been waiting for this for about six months. My brother in law (RacerJohnson) was in Iraq until the end of January and I didn't want him to miss out, so we could have done it in February. Then I brought up the idea of making it a club chop, and some of the clubmembers that were are little further away thought this weekend would be a good one. We had a flood again this year in Fargo, and I thank God it wasn't as bad as last year's, because if it was I would've had to wait longer to chop the shoebox.

I've been saving my 1,000th post for the last week in order to introduce this thread. AntiBling will be on hand with his camera as I asked him to be the official "HAMB Coordinator" for the weekend. My hope is that you guys will be updated every hour or so with what is going on.

The plan is to both chop and hardtop my shoebox so it will look like the picture below. This is Swedeshoebox's car before he "Littonized" it with the Stude headlights and the Olds taillights. I really liked the simple, elegant chop, yet you can still tell that the car is highly customized. Here are before and (hopefully) after shots of what my car will look like...

I'd like to thank in advance my fellow Suedes Members for their help this weekend, I'm sure with lots of eyes around the job will be more thorough and executed very well. I want to thank Andreas (swedeshoebox) for the inspiration and extra help regarding the chop. I hope my car turns out half as nice as his! I'd like to thank the Chrome Czars for thier support as well. I'd also like to thank AntiBling for his technical support, and my girlfriend Sadie for her understanding and support throughout the last five or six months. Finally, thanks to everyone on the HAMB who has helped me with this build whether it be with moral or technical support! Thanks!

Good luck for your chop! the Andreas car is one of my all time favorite hardtop shoeboxes and (IMHO) could be the perfect chopped and hardtop of a shoe

And good luck trying to sleep tonight, if it was me I am sure my brain would be spinning until 5 minutes before I had to get up!

  8. I cant wait to follow this thread. I know from experience that a lot of help is a good thing when taking on a project like this.

Zep- I looked hi and lo for the "perfect" shoebox chop, and in my eyes, Andreas' car just does it for me. I'm hoping I get some sleep, the layout starts in 8 hours, hopefully the ceremonial first cut will be in 9 or 10!

Thanks Timmy- I'm very happy to be able to involve my fellow Suedes members
Boones- me too! the roofline is what really makes or breaks the car, especially the top edge of the quarter windows.

The wife's car on Mad Fab, right? Maybe I can come out there and help you with it when I know what I'm doing...

I hope I can pull it off! (Nice job on the '59 so far by the way!)

Will do Russco, like I said, I've got an official HAMB coordinator lined up... we should get things rolling by noon tomorrow!

Thanks for all of the support guys! I hope to impress!
