I've been visiting the H.A.M.B. for quite a while, and finally decided I'd better get off my duff and join. Why, cause I've always loved old cars. I guess I got that from my Dad. When I first started to drive (in the 50's) our family car was a 1933 Franklin Air-cooled Inline 6. I learned how to drive on that old monster (nearly 3 tons). My first car was given to me, a 1939 Chevy Master Deluxe Business Coupe. All the money from my paper route went into fixing all the things a Free-Car could possibly have to fix (just about everything). What the heck, it was free, and so was all the rust. That's the car that taught me to love the business end of wrenches and hammers. I wish I still had it. All I can say is, it was a better car when I sold it than when I got it. There have been a string of pretty cool cars since then, but after a while I decided it was time to grow up and set the old iron aside. Then one day my wife and I dropped into Lew's Drive-In because there were nearly 100 cool cars at one of Oregon's biggest. My wife spotted a beautiful, red 1965 Nova Hard Top and couldn't stop talking about it. The next day I opened the Nickle-Ads with the dim hope of finding a series one Nova. It had to be fate. There it was. It even ran long enough for the trip home. That was a bunch of years ago, and it still isn't on the road, but will be soon. There were a few rust perforations, one of which let the rain into the trunk. In Oregon that's a big deal. I decided this was going to be my daily driver, and I wanted it to be a nice one. It went on a rotisserie, got media blasted, and had every square inch of the body metal-finished with only two small patch panels. It's still on the rotisserie, but that should change in a mater of weeks. I want it to be near stock, so the only big changes will be a 250 Inline 6 to replace the 194, and a TH 700r4 to replace the 3-on-the-tree (my wife can't drive a stick).
