I run my 540 chevy on torco 114 or 116 and it runs 7.50s in the 1/4.. We got a 4.11 gear on a 31" tall tire.. Their very picky with gear/tire size and wheelbase/width. If you wanna take advantage of your setup then send your pic to a good chassis builder and they'll go over it with you. It doesnt cost much to do a frame, its the little things like wheels/chute/restraints/steering boxes/body panels that get it up there in price. If you run gas then you dont need the dual fire bottles. I dont know your plans on competition with it but if you wanna run consistent and straight, these are things to look at. Dave Tuttle up in NorCal is the man, I'd call on him to build you a kick ass racecar. I would run it on gas and tow it to the lines, run a flywheel starter with a wrench handy, use a primer bottle and plug in a set of batterys instead of using an alternator.

I like Shakey's recommendation of the M&Hs! Anybody have a set of the little Pirellis for the front? Oh wait.....I mean Avons......

Down yonder in Texas..I picked up the rear casing from a handsome stranger in wellington and my Radir 12 spokes were delivered there as well....complete tires/tubes/rims/bearings and hubs.
Also picked up my Tach and the 3 gauges i needed.

    So...... still collecting parts:)

I have made a decision though...... I am gonna go full on stack injection...not sure if GASS or AL-KEE-HAUL.

I am saving scratch to buy the last part of the puzzle(see attached)

178 replies, and not a single piece of steel has been cut yet. This thread might go ballistic once the sparks really start flying. :D

Awesome drawings though, and I can feel a little mechanical 'plagiarism' coming on..... ;)

  28. Here's a little inspiration Jeff. Jim Steele and Nick Cirino built this roadster with an injected Olds in the late 50's. When they added the blower they used the Hilborn port injectors on top of the blower. This roadster was the badest of the bad at old San Gabe in the late 50's running near 150 on gas! I snapped this pic in the lanes at the March Meet in 1960. Nick and Jim are not with us any longer, but Jim's Durfee Auto Parts lives on in the same original El Monte location a few blocks from our old machine shop.

Just found this thread, glad you plan to use a 30-31 body, always thought they look better than 28-29's.Sure would like to see this great sketch with a full hood. Good luck with the build! [IMG]
