  2. Cool find but judging by the grille, isn't that a Chrysler 300 rather than a New yorker?

Nope. The 300 has a much cleaner front bumper arrangement and larger grills. See the enclosed image from Google.

It's what all the Hot Rodders are doing these days.

    Cool find.

  10. I spent a day in Havana - awesome 40's and 50's rides, with about an inch of paint on them! they just keep rolling paint over top when it gets dull. Amazing that New Yorker is in that good of shape! And the Hemi is still with it!

Nice video and I like David Soul, interesting he just jabs at the US and not even one word, much less a Jab, at the government that created the mess on that beautiful island. And more, why these people cannot only get parts, but a bar of soap. Read your history and what really goes there and how those people are suffering. Not trying to blow all this up, if its about cars, then leave it as that.. and I love the story..

oh..there "igneous" because the HAVE to be, if it were a free island then they could just order the parts online, etc...but that would make a much less interesting story.

They HAVE to be because of the trade embargo.

The thing about David Soul, is that when he walked into the room, there was voodoo in the air. You don't know what that's like until you've lived it.

  18. Don't want to get into politics on why the embargo exist or why it is still in place.

I do know my parents were there on vacation when Batista was still in power and they always said it was opulent in the tourist areas,,a beautiful place with friendly people,,

I applaud David Soul for trying to help with the restoration but I would almost bet there will be some Russian made parts in the restoration,,the are used in most of the cars there. HRP

Russian parts will be a welcome relief from the other 3rd world manufactures.

62 Nova....the trade embargo is only in relation to US Cuba trade....Cuba can still trade with everyone else....they just dont have the money. I read somwhere that 70 percent or so of Cuban citizens are under 40...which means they only know communism...which is why the embargo hasnt worked....normally an embargo causes citizens to get pissed and force some action or overthrow the government....ever try overthrowing a dictatorial communist government? The bottom line is that people have suffered for decades there...the cars too.

Lets just talk about cars.....I hate politics mixed in here....

You are right, this is about cars and we should leave the politics to the politicians. I wish there was a way we could all help.....I am going to look into it.

I think it would be interesting to see the car restored there...many guys are craftsmen with nothing to work with...

Man just leave the Politics out of this for goodness sake. Not that I don't care or feel for opressed folks but If you want your Political voice heard go get on PBS Free TV.

Now back to the normal programming-

Totally Bitchin' they found Hemmingways car and it's not a cobbled up mess. I wish it could talk. He was able to live like every Man wants and pulled it off so well. I'm looking forward to the finish of this one.

Given the parts problem and their necessary crudeness the finished car will look like a POS to any knowledgeable car guy.
