English Ford info?

I have found some 195? English Ford parts I think Anglia or Pop.

There is a complete rear, front beam and side valve 4 with gearbox.
I was looking at a Model T speedster T rails, 27 cowl using the English ford running gear and axles (all 4 wheels turn, toque tube, banjo and I beam look ok), I can also get hold of a 750 Indian V twin.

I was thinking of removing the 10 hp side valve and bolting up the 750 or a Harley V2. I figure the V twin will move a light car along.

Do you think the small ford gearbox and banjo will cope?

I had a quick look at spare parts for the English Ford and bearing and brake parts are available. maybe able to adapt better backing plates as I think it may have mechanical brakes.

The parts look a lot like say Model A just smaller.

I remember seeing small cars with V twins out front, but I'm not sure what to call them.. I would be mounting the motor to the gearbox in behind the grill maybe hood and sides.

I've got some similar ideas of making a small speedster out of the Anglia bits I still have.
Maybe use the flathead four and get one of those alum. heads and twin carb. manifolds out from England.

I think you want to take a look at this.

There have been loads of Ford 1172cc specials over the years. Google 'em.

The Dellow was a semi-productionized example of the breed:

yes that was the part that had me thinking of the V twin (the Cyclecars thread), the parts I looked at were siting in mates shed and I was struck how they looked like down sized Henry stuff which of cause they are.

I was thinking if weight reduction would be enough to get the flat head 4 to move a car at highway speeds. hot it up? bolt up a S&S V2 80-100 HP?

The 10hp was RAC taxable horsepower. Actual output was more like 35bhp, with somewhat more possible.

Spark, this belongs to a friend of mine here in Bendigo. My idea was to build something like this in a scaled down version on an Anglia chassis with the four cylinder done like Roddy's alum. head and twin carbs.

This thread says '80's Toyota Corolla spindles are same as Anglia so may be a source for
OEM disc brakes if you make a caliper bracket.

I scored a English ford/ lotus motor from a mashed up 1954 mark VI the only thing is its head is the low performance stock unit and I am trying to up the specs to the race mark VI.
