The family will know he had a lot of car guys that thought highly of him. I offer my best to the family. To a good guy RIP

  7. I was a teen, about 13 years old or so, my first Hot Rod magazine had a single black and white shot of a custom 71/72 Boatail Riv at a show with a caption that read something like "another Titus brothers custom". Those boys are responsible for my first love of customs and the big land yachts.

    Thanks for the influence, Eldon.

We got the news about Eldon's death yesterday.

We are all going to miss his onery smile and vibrant personality.

May I take a few moments here to stress the importance of yearly exams? Eldon's diagnosis of Prostate Cancer came AFTER the disease spread to his lymph nodes. I speak from experience here. Mike, my husband was diagnosed with this disease in 2000 at the age of 52, we were told that the cancer is very aggressive in younger men, Eldon is proof of that, Mike and I learned the hard way just how aggressive it can be. Mike was lucky, we caught the disease before it spread to his lymph nodes, Mike is now a survivor of this vicious disease, His surgury was in September of 2000, in 2002, he had to have radiation treatments because his PSA started rising. He completed his treatments in early 2003, and his PSA has been zero since then. Eldon wasn't as fortunate.

Every man over the age of 50 should have a yearly PSA AND Physical. If someone in your family has already had this disease, you need to start these tests at the age of 40. Mike's PSA was already up to 10.0 when his diagnosis came, the Doctor was very concerned and Mike had to have TWO biopsies done before the diagnosis was official. Dr. thought the cancer was small before surgury, the cancer had already passed the prostate wall, so Dr. removed his lymph nodes as well as the Prostate. Once the surgury was done, let me tell you, we were terrified. Don't let this horrible disease make you think it can't happen to you. Statistics say that 50% of the men in this country over the age of fifty already have this disease. Honor Eldon's memory. GET TESTED!!!!!

Grave side services will follow at Osborne Cemetery in Mayfield. Mayfield is about 8 miles west of Wellington which is about 30 miles south of Derby.

the exact address for the church is 820 W 27th Street south, so it would be 8 blocks west of broadway.

    Eldon Titus 1948-2008

It is with a heavy heart, that I share this news.

For those of you here that are into custom cars, I know there aren't
many, but for those who are, the world of Bubbletops and Custom cars
has lost a well known and dearly admired man.

Eldon (and his older brother Jerry) Titus both worked with (and for)
Daryl Starbird as Daryl was making a name for himself here in the
Midwest in the late 50s and 60s. Jerry and Daryl started the Kustom
Kemps of America in the early 80s. After Daryl moved his shop to
Oklahoma, Eldon went to work for himself in customs, making himself
well known for his radical eye catching customs. For the custom
folks here, who want to see what Eldon has done, go
to http://www.titusbrothers.com here you will find Eldon's creations (note
the red 65 Catalina, Mike and Eldon have had many talks about our own
Kool Kat). Shortly before Eldon had his surgury, Mike had talked to
him about cutting the glass for Kool Kat after the top was chopped.
When we found out that Eldon's fate was sealed (the cancer had spread
to his lymph nodes), we ditched the idea of having him cut our
windows. The main reason why Kool Kat's top has yet to be chopped.
(We have yet to find anyone who we can trust to do that.)

Eldon and Mike also share a history of Prostate Cancer. Mike is a
survivor of the disease, unfortunately, Eldon is not. Eldon lost his
battle October 8th. He was 60 years old. We have lost a good friend,
and a man who was well known to many in this area, if not the whole
continent, for his expertice and knowledge.

For information, and for those who would like to share thier
condolences, go to http://www.kansas.com. Click on the obituary section,
find Eldon E. Titus and add your comments to the family. We (Mike and
    I) will forever remember Eldon, driving his Voodo Spider at the KKOA
shows, with a onery smile on his face. The man will be sorely missed
by those of us who knew him.

I wish that I could but I'm not able to make it to Wichita.

We will be at the Cemetery in Mayfield, KS. We plan on
being there around 11:00 am. Please continue to pray for
the friends & family. Hopefully I'll see some of ya tomorrow.

    God bless,
