That car looks strangely familiar! It certainly is an AWESOME ride. That black 59 is a twin to my 60 El. Love it!

    Hi All,

New to this game to please forgive any mistakes. Love the Ammon Smith 59, looks like a twin to mine. All the El Caminos and Rancheros are super cool. I've owned mine sine April of 75, was my second car. She cruises nice and has a 350 Horse tripower 348 with a Speeder. Keep the Faith!

    Tom

My thought was to put red line tires on it with dog dish hubcaps, I got another set of the correct wheels and would paint them marroon, thats about all if I do that. For now like you say it looks nice and is original.

  10. If the 59 wasn't so wide, I imagine a Corvair transaxle - running a t/c Spyder engine. It'd be a cool little push/pull truck.

I love that black 60 as well! welcome to the hamb! Here is my latest project, 65 factory 327 4speed 12bolt car...lifelong blackplate car, just brought up to Massachusetts. I have various visions of what I will be doing with her....one thing that will remain is the seafoam green paint (just needs new coat)....

  15. That would be cool! An Algon injector, could only make it cooler!

That is pretty slick! I'd drive it, the roof makes it!

    Here's mine,

Picked it up a couple of weeks ago and it's my daily driver. Paint is awful but the body is solid. Factory 289 and four speed. 9" posi with 3.30 gears. Want to convert it to power steering, add headers, redo the front end and of course paint.

Always liked Utes and ElCaminos. Decided to design and build my own out of a 56 Chevy 2 door 210 model wagon I had.
Been enjoying it two seasons so far. Like my license plate says, the car does get used.
More pictures of build posted on HAMB under "My friends 56 ElCamino"

During the 2011 Woodward Cruise I met Bob Haas from Michigan driving this 55 Ford Crown Vic/Ranchero conversion. We had a nice visit and hung out for awhile showing each other our cars.

Wow, if your 56 was impressive enuff, your pal's 55 with the glass roof is a stunner. Great pair.
I'll try to find pics of a swiss 58 chevy UTE conversion.
