Effectiveness of penetrating oils/lubricants

    I agree. I found this info quite awhile back and made up some. The acetone immediately evaporated leaving the ATF to do something, of which it did little. I like to heat whatever is stuck and hit it with PB Blaster or some of the others. It sucks it right in. Been using LW since the 50's.

    What good would acetone be even with very gentle heat? Must be something for Alaska. ;)

    I used the atf/acetone mixture twice so far. Once on a 12 year old exhaust manifold and the second time on a 13 year old O2 sensor. Worked well both times.
