I put an Edelbrock C357b tri power on my 56 265, started it and got coolant in oil real quick. I obviously made a mistake, but are there any tricks, special info I should know?? I searched here hi and low and couldn’t find an answer. Would really appreciate any help, thanks!

take the intake off, and look very carefully at the gaskets. See if you can find any places around the water passages at the ends, where it is not sealing.

What did you use to seal the ends, where the intake meets the block? Did you use the rubber gaskets? or just a bead of RTV?

You may have to use 265-283 small port intake gaskets to get it to seal up. The more common 327-400 gasket sets didn't work on my C357/283 combo either. There is a difference. Like Squirrel said, look carefully at what the gasket covers and more important doesn't cover on both the intake manifold and head surfaces.
Also, if it's a used manifold, look for corrosion damage around the front water ports and the back where the manifold blocks off the water as well as pinholes in the bottom front water passage.

Thanks, just ran numbers and heads are 57. Might be the problem right there, I put it together thinking it was 56. My fault for not checking

There is a separate intake for 265's. C355 I believe.

YES, use the 265 gaskets, the Fel Pro #MS9200B, otherwise, well you already know what will happen.

Also port alignment. 265 gaskets sometimes can't fill that gap.
