I think he's on the HAMB, but he's on Econoline message boards on Yahoo and VintageVans.com as "Vic in CA". Oh yeah, you really should post an introduction in the Intro section before you get roasted.

  3. Ok I know its an old thread but thanks for this GREAT info!
I just bough a 67 Eco, trying to decide what to do.

The 240 in my 66 has seized and I'm not if I should pay to have it rebuilt or if I should try and find a 302 to drop in. What are you guys think?

  5. The 250 six has the same bell pattern as a late 289 .302 or 351 W or C. the small six C4 trans bell and converter will not work on a V8.

  6. Ive got a couple 300 sixes and a lot of new engine parts and a set of hedders ect. will sell the entire lot really cheep. where are you located?

    Appreciate the offer, mate.
I am in Victoria, BC so that makes it a little tough haha.
I have the heavy duty rear end in mine.

240s are cool, but worth the cost of a rebuild? 302s are cheap and plentiful and will work with most of what you have. I'd go with a 302

A 302 would be cool, but a 300 six should be a bolt in deal.

The issue is finding one up here.
A 300 would be nice, then I can put my 240 head on it.

  11. One time I was at a auction. and at the end of the day the guy who was in charge of the selling. stated we are not done. There's a ford van in that blackberry and bramble patch. I got up on the auctioneers step ladder and could barely see the roof. So I started it at $20 and bought it. Went back with my tractor and drove as close as I could get and mashed down the thicket. Hooked a chain and drug it out. We where pretty close to home So my son steered and we drug it home on flat tires. When we pulled the dog house we got a good suprize. Someone has installed a 65 289 and C4 trans. A gas line to the carb and file the points and it cranked right up. good engine and Trans . and a 9 inch rear with 355 gears. Sold the engine and trans to a guy that was restoring a Mustang and wanted the correct date code engine.

I am tempted to sell it as is and get a '64 F100.
