I got a call from Gary from Wenatchee on Saturday. He said he was the one that dropped off the flyers at my house in Madras Oregon. He called to see if I was going to be at the run. Said he drives a '38 Ford. Hope to meet him there!

Hope to put some faces to the names here on the HAMB.

Gary was just at my place last Saturday. He is a nice guy, drives a 38 standard 2 door.

Sorry you will miss the run this year Dirty Dug. I don't know why the September date was originally chosen by the Spokane area guys but I think it is a great time of year for a reliability run. The temperatures are usually mild and winds are moderate or nonexistent . We still have about 12 hours of daylight for those making a round trip on Saturday also.

The extended weather forecast for this weekend is 68-70 degrees with no rain. Sounds like perfect weather for flathead driving to me.

Thanks 39 Guy. I wonder if Gary is the same guy that stopped by a few years ago with a '38 Ford in an enclosed car trailer? I ran into him a few years ago at the flathead run in Monitor. I have a terrible time remembering names but always remember the cars!

I have the same problem Dave. Someone asks if I know so and so and" I say whats he drive?" I guess we will both find out if we have the right guy in mind next Saturday.

If I drive up from Central CO do I win? I just put 1100 miles on my Flathead powered '40 last weekend, she's good to go!

No guarantee but I would say you have a pretty good chance of winning it. You better hit the road pretty soon I did a little check and it's 1200 miles from Leadville ( A guess) to Wenatchee with a fair share of mountain passes to navigate over 18 hours of driving time. I would certainly give you an Atta Boy!

Maybe next year... I think I will be heading to Goodland KS this weekend for a club member's show. It would be a fun trip to WA though! I need to go to some events that are just fun, random car shows... Maybe I'll be able to make a summer of it next year!

Sorry you can't make it micamountain.

Those of you that can make it over to Monitor it's time to check your maps, tighten your bolts, fill up your tanks and gather up some like minded friends and head across the mountains from the West or across the eastern plains to share your passion with some fellow gear heads.

    See you there tomorrow,

Well Sam, we made it to Monitor today. Went down for the Friday night cruise, half dozen cars. Met Rusty Bill and another couple. Super nice owners at the Hot Rod Cafe. He always remembers me.

    See ya tomorrow!

Glad you made it safely Dave! I meant to get out there tonight but life intervened. Ron and Hedi are nice people and treat us all well. I should be out there by 8 AM Saturday. See you then.

Sorry to see that you won't make it this year but for you it is some serous miles.
For those who don't know, he drove his 27 roadster 533 or so miles one way to the event last year.

It was a fine day for a reliability run. We had a pretty good turn out. I forgot to take my camera but I arraigned for a friend of mine take some pictures that I will post as soon as he sends them to me. Meanwhile you will have to do with these few pictures I took with my phone.

Hopefully early next week Mark will have his photos ready to share with us. I see Mr48chev posted some pictures. Maybe he has some more he can share. I am sorry I didn't get to meet you Mr48 , I know we have been to a few shows at the same time this year but never met. I got to meet Dave though. Nice to meet you Dave and I hope you had a good time and have a safe trip home.

We made it there just before 12. Here are some of the photos I took and I'll get all of them in an album after a bit. 200 photos so every car got several. I'm going to assume that the majority of the cars that had their hoods closed up tight had "other" engines and not flathead or flathead based engines. Those will get posted later. Three years after first hearing about this event, I finally made it! My wife & I drove our stock Ford '29 Closed Cab Pickup over from Snohomish over 20 on Thursday/Friday/Saturday AM and then took 2 home this afternoon. A great drive & some great people and cars at the event.

My favorite was the '32 Ford that the current owner's father had used as a refrigerator mechanic in Okanogan County back in the day. It still had bolts sticking through the body that his dad had used to fridges around & dents from where his mom had backed it into something. A neat piece of history!

I rather like the wide fives on the 29. I have a frame for a tear drop trailer that has wide IMG_3562.JPG IMG_3567.JPG IMG_3566.JPG IMG_3570.JPG
Uploading to the board doesn't let me post comments like I like to but this little shoebox was sweet.

Well, it turns out Gary was actually Jerry with the 38 Tudor but it was him that dropped off the flyers and called later on.
I got to meet people and put names and faces and hamn names together but I am way better at remembering cars than names!
As usual, the owners of the Hot Rod Cafe made us feel like we were long time friends or royalty! They go out of their way to make everyone feel great. Good food & decor & great people. What more can you ask for?
We even got a long distance award even after I told them we hauled most of the way and to give it to someone deserving but they gave us one anyway after giving another to someone else!
There wasn't as many cars this year but it was a great time with perfect weather. We will continue to make the 280 mile trip until they stop having the run.

Here are some pics of the stinky blow by 29 AV8 we took to the meet. Ran great with no problems on it's first trip out of town so I couldn't be happier but it will need to be rebuilt. 20170923_090532.jpg 20170923_090546.jpg 20170923_090116.jpg 20170923_090056.jpg 20170923_090046.jpg This was on the old Monitor Road and at the fire station in front of the Model A powered pump.

This is a great run. If you have a flathead powered rig ya gotta go!
