Wish I could afford a Fuel and Temp gauge, they're so expensive. Hoping to get lucky one day.

  2. Seems to me that the 2" tulip water temp is the hardest to find.

Yes, the fuel gauge averages around 700 bucks, the Temp, well I've never seen a Temp gauge for sale. Some of the guys that posted have them all

  10. I hope that means the roadster is being restored; I was intrigued by that car when it was on ebay all those years ago and always wondered what happened to it. Have you posted anything more about it?

  12. These had been in storage for about 50 years when I got them. They are (so I'm told) out of a 1938 Allard.

I posted in this thread by Ryan from 2006 and got some info (that I no longer have)...

They were in this '32 roadster that was built in 1949-50...

10 years later, I still have them and they are still wearing the same dirt. Probably about time I cleaned them up (a little). I'm concerned about damaging them, any ideas for cleaning without messing them up? I have no interest in "restoring" them, just want them clean and functional.

Big A, those speedo and tachs have three small screws holding the bezel and glass onto the bucket. You can undo those screws and carefully remove the front assembly. Be careful though as all the inner rings and glass will be loose, so don't drop them.

Clean the rings and glass as you wish, replace the gasket material with some fresh stuff from the parts store (might take some careful knife work to cut the round shape if you don't have a compass cutter like I do). You can remove the inner workings from the bucket with two more screws on the backside of the bucket. A couple drops of sewing machine oil in obvious spots is all it will hopefully need to make things spin easily. I don't recommend removing the needle from the guts, or using anything except light compressed air to clean the faces. Those parts are too fragile and the paint is likely to crack.

  14. Thanks for that info. I will pull them out of hibernation again and have a look.

I sent the photos to an Allard expert in the UK and just got a reply... Allard never used SW gauges. Curiouser and curiouser.

New in box 2 5/8" Stewart Warner Oil Pressure Gauge. Smooth Bezel, Curved glass, Cresent Needle, Front Mount.
It's still in it's original box, in the sealed bag from the factory! Dated June 1960. I'm not going to unseal the bag! At least not yet.

Another Stewart Warner 2 5/8" Oil Pressure Gauge from a swap meet.

Here is a very large (6" diameter) 1935 Speedometer in my dash. I had HAMBer e1956v completely rebuild it, set the odometer, and calibrate it. Everything on it works great.

Thats a strange oil pressure gauge. Weird looking bezel. Must be late 60s? Mid 60s. The short tail pointer didn't start coming into production until the mid 50s also.

No wonder I can't find any gauges, Titus has them all.

Yeah, Speed-On's swap meet oil pressure has a weird bezel. Looks like it's not SW. Might be a bad repro, or another brand bezel.

It's just a different bezel, the face has the Stewart Warner print and the casing is stamped Stewart Warner.

    Yes, that's what I meant.

There is a well known builder in California who does lots of 32's, and whomever he uses to restore the old SW's in some of those cars uses a similar bezel to yours. Maybe that's where yours came from too.

I think the shape of Pat Pryor's new bezel looks much more like real Stewart-Warner. I'll have to get some for some needy gauges of mine.

  27. Here is a panel set, they are a little crusty, still trying to get them presentable.

  28. Anyone know anything about these SW gauges? You don't see many red white and green gauges.

Here is a 4" rear mount 100 psi Oil pressure gauge I picked up. I believe it is from the MotoMeter Co. They were located in La Crosse, WI. I think these were produced in the early 1930's, it fits in the largest hole in an Auburn dash. It has a beautiful brass housing that's in great condition, the green light window on the side of the bezel, and a great crescent needle. The gauge is in remarkable condition.

To give you an idea just how large this gauge is, here it is next to one of my 2 5/8" SW Oil Pressure gauges.

The pictures do not do this gauge justice, it is beautiful in person.
