I wouldn't say that.... Any Ford motor with a C6 behind it will suck gas as the C6 had so much internal drag, that was the price for being bulletproof. I had a '68 F100 360 with a three on the tree that would knock down 20+ MPG on the highway all day long and 15 in town. That motor went 250K miles until the nylon teeth fell off the timing gear and it jumped time.

 

Not saying the 360 is bad . But it is a low compression engine . It does need a boost in compression , no matter how you choose to do it .
