Technical Early Ford 16x5 1/2" wheels- application?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Sep 5, 2019.

  1. I picked up a single 16" early Ford wheel, 5x5.5 bolt pattern. Looks just like a basic 40's era 16" Ford wheel but is 5 1/2" wide. I have had a few 5" wheels, but ever a 5.5". Does anyone know the application these were used?

I don't know what they came on, but I found two in my stash, and used them on the back of my 41 pickup.

the two i have came from a truck. i thought he said F100 which would mean 53-56.

in 57, ford went to 15 inch wheels

  4. Isn't that what Bass has on the back of his coupe? I herd they where on coach built cars. Hearse and what not.

    I had a 16 x 6" early Ford steelie once. But I knew I'd never find a match so I sold it. I've got a few 5" now, but no 5.5"

  6. They actually went to 15" in 53, but you could get 16" wheels as an option up through 66

  7. I have had a lot of 16" Ford wheels, this is the first 5.5" I have ever seen or had. I have a few 5" in my stash, but was surprised by this. So it would make sense if its something low production. I have never seen a 16x6 either
