I look at these photos, and I don't believe what it was. Although I know how to kind of touch this, the game Mafia, the same atmosphere ...

I can’t recall if I’ve posted these before. These are from a friends garage and I scanned them with my phone. These are his “Trackers” club photos with members who lived in the Hollywood area. The photos range from from the early to mid 60s.

Cal is the guy with the white T-Shirt who is standing up on left side the first photo. He is 80 years old this year and still going strong.

I really like the one with the '57 chevy push car and wish that it was in better shape. He's had these framed in his garage for probably 50 years - and the photos are very sun damaged.

The blue 34 3-window was the club car. I found this on line for him after hearing him talk about the build and racing it. He said that one member stole the drivetrain and racing parts from the coupe, and from his memory the remains were scrapped as the club dissolved.

This must be from the movie when "The Munsters" went drag racing "Mockingbird Heights" is where they lived.

When I was just a kid my grandmother had a book on the Munsters before the TV show and Movies came out. :)

If you look really hard you might see Dino up there in the control tower!

    Hello,

The debut of my friend, Atts Ono’s, immaculate 1940 Willys Coupe , took place in 1964. It was during the giant West Coast All Gas Coupe and Sedan Class hot rods/drag racer’s meet at Lion’s Dragstrip. From the time that he helped us with our own 1940 Willys Coupe for the B/Gas and C/Gas Classes in 1959-60, he had built his own version of a wonderful B/Gas coupe. It was immaculate to say the least.

The debut was tremendous and all of the accolades were given to him at this meet. The “best of the best” teams were present and that is saying a lot of confidence in his first time home built and machined, B/Gas Willys Coupe. I was asked to come to Lion’s Dragstrip to document the reveal and film some competition.

The last time Atts Ono and myself were together was driving down Lion’s Dragstrip in the 58 Impala to get to our burning 40 Willys 671 SBC coupe on fire in the spectator’s fence. It was not a good day. Then the next day, we spent the whole day taking apart everything that we could from the remaining hulk, on a flatbed trailer.

Then we both said goodbye to the empty, but complete 40 Willys Coupe in a scrapyard near Lion’s Dragstrip. it was probably, Cook’s Auto Wrecking in Wilmington, CA.

By the time we saw the Popular Hot Rodding Magazine feature article, it had gone through several changes. Then over time up to the sale of the Willys Coupe in 1971 to a racer from the Midwest. Where? Who knows.

With the passing of Atts Ono, the family saw the red Willys leaving Long Beach for the last time and head towards its new home somewhere in the Midwest region of the USA. It was a confusing time and all recollection from the past was lost in translation in 2019 when contact was made with the family, again.
