Not sure if it fits, but I think its more Hot Rod than Custom. Fatman Front Clip, ZZ4 Crate motor, 700R4, Vintage Heat/Air.

It is not what the OP is asking. This is a 'cruiser'.

So what is the definition? If it has skirts it's a custom, and if not a hot rod?

For me this car and the red and black 56 Ford stand out in a gallery of mostly street rods and cruisers.

I don't think either of those is universally true, but if it has skirts, it's NOT a hot rod.

This, Rick, is so cool....great weekend car, or daily! Bitchin' colors and sits perfect.

Not a big deal on the definition....Tony nailed it, NO SKIRTS. Some rake, you know....

its hard to have the hotrod look with skirts. It might not be a custom but it is not a HotRod in the sense of this thread. I have a hard time calling a 50's car with whitewalls, small hubcaps and beauty rings a hotrod (in the sense of the thread)

chrome reverse with whitewalls can be pulled off, small caps and steelies (but needs black wall) can also look hotrod (see picture above) but add rings and it gets more factory looking or cruiser and less hotrod. (these are my opinions)

Can this thread be placed well back on track? Or do I have to dig out (Georgette style) the old car magazines and post up some real rides and some drawn renderings that FLAT OUT define the OP's intent? PS delete some of these laying rocker, 'custom skirted' non topic pix already. This is how the HAMB re-education of the rules happened.

I remember the feature in which Pat showed three Chebbies that he had a hand in. I don't recall the magazine (probably R&C) or the date; can anyone else recall?

Yes, R/C magazine. Steve Stanford has some KILLER on topic renderings that are buried in my stash.
