    Traction like a greasy parking lot....

    No timing gear.....

    No start lights, just some lunatic jumping in the air with a flag.....

    1/8th mile, heads up racing.....

    Dust, flies & 90+ degree temperatures.....Middle of bloody nowhere....

    Why would ANYONE wanna go to something like that?

    We had a great 3 days there. Can't wait to go back in Oct.. Maybe we can get that 56 to hook up before 3rd gear...

    So I drive down to OC for my granddaughters grad. ceremony from nurses school on Friday, I had a spare day on Sat. so I call my pal Richard Heath in Long Beach and like a couple 18 year olds , we set off for Eagle Field , "just north of Bakersfield off I-5" --BS ! A whole bunch north! After stopping at Zingo's for some breakfast about 8 am , FTN Richard and I are off again . So the miles roll by on 5 and at last Richard says we are getting close, " close ? Close to what ?" "there ain't even a lizard or rattlesnake out in this Godforsaken place" I exclaim, "I can see it says Richard", as we proceed down a section line 2 lane path at 65 mph. "See those buildings over there, those hangers? " yeah but I think Rich has gone friggen' bonkers on me. Slowly things start appearing, "well I'll be dipped !" there is something going on . So we are greeted by a couple very friendly ladies at the gate, got our tickets and hooked up with my squadron leader Stormy and proceeded to have a ball . Best event I've been to since the early 90's and the NDRA at Famoso. I'm hooked !!

    Thanks for the pics dave!

    as cool as they are, pics cannot convey the COOLNESS of this event.

    i get to sit in the announcers truck and watch the racing ALL day so i consider myself blessed, but i'd REALLY like to be able to hang out in the pits and just cruise. lost of cool stuff out there too.

    we're getting it on AGAIN on OCTOBER 6 2011!!!
