Hopefully somebody does...I forgot my camera. I did spend about an hour talking with Josh Shaw about the car. He showed me alot of cool details on the car. It is a really neat build. The "patina" on the car is simply amazing to see in person...they are really getting this process down. I spent the most time at the SEMA show between this car and the Foose P32. I am sure they are both cars that you either like or don't like, but the chassis on both cars were something to take notes on. Neal
Josh is an old drinking buddy of mine.(every time I see him he's drinking ) The half car was cool, this one would be soo fun to drive the shit out of. (like he's known to do)
neal, did you look at the front suspension? In that picture I swear the front spring is touching the frame notch.
Yeah, that did look a little close... The car does have cool details...like even though the frame is step-boxed and the crossmembers are welded in, they added flanges with drive rivets at all of the joints so it doesn't have a modern look. The grille insert is made from the bars out of an original 32 insert...all hand bent over a curved form. The rear spreader bar/push bar (rod) is pretty cool too. Lets see those pics. Neal
Cool car....but it looks like it'd have alot of bumpsteer by the looks of that draglink. When you hit a bump, it would effectively 'get longer' when a bump was hit, steering to the left... I wanna see more detail pics.... Pretty wicked chop....
thats what i was thinking with that drag link....someones gotta have pictures though!! ive poured over the 1/2 car in rodders journal Zach
I really liked the grill shell on the .5 car... This one is a huge dissappointment for me. I was really looking forward to seeing what it would look like on a completed car.
I'd like to see the chassis! JOsh sent me a bunch of templates and I made all the boxing plates and some of the crossmember stuff. He told me Scott would e-mail me some pictures....but I'm still waiting.....
Here are some I took on the road. I tried to shrink them a little bit. Josh was really cool to hang with. And did a great job on car.
Yeah, I love that car... Such great proportions and the grille shell is just so smart... I'm out on the fake "patina" though. Just not my thing.
That thing is so rad. I'd like to see the interior. At first I hated the nose, but it is growing on me. I too spent too much time pouring over TRJ and that is what I was expecting. Doesn't matter though, its rad.
Josh had originally intended to make the grill quite a bit more narrow than it ended up. He qwas concerned that they would not be able to keep the thing cool. I am trying to find the interior shots I have, and will post them as soon as I can. Eric
Am I the only one who DOESN"T like this car? OK, I like some of it but that roof looks silly with that much angle to it and the front of the hood top and grill are just too tall to have good proportions. Oh, and the fake "patina" is just as silly as the roof. Neat paint scheme, grill (not including the top of course), wheels covers and details though. Before: After: I know it's somewhat subtle but I think it makes a huge difference.
I saw the half car in RJ, but didn't know they made the complete car! I've been under a rock... Too cool! Thanks for posting pics!
I have some pictures from underneath the car. I will try to post them later this evening. Basically, it's a quick change rear (pretty sure it's a Halibrand) with some clunky home made ladder bars. Transmission is a Tremec 5 speed. The guage cluster was very cool, but I don't think I have a picture of that. I'm with Ryan on not liking the fake patina stuff, but still think this was a pretty neat car. BTW, this was assembled from pieces he got from Brookville. Brookville had '32 3W number one at the show, which I think Posies drove out to Vegas. And Brookville 32 3W number two was there in the Ford display. It's the first Brookville 32 3W I've seen completed with paint, interior, etc. It was done in street rod fashion, but really looked nice.
Knowing Josh and the way he drives his shit, It doesn't take long for him to beat up a car and give it some earned patina. But if there is anyone out there that can give a car a well worn look right out of the box it is Josh and his Dad Dan Shaw,, two amazing talents.
did Dick Lewis build the motor for this car? looks like his logo from his card on the hood side? Zach
The car is really cool and well done. But I love the photoshop'd version. Those very slight changes really pleases the eye. Either way all the extra pics helps complete the car for those that have not seen it. I too read the TRJ and am glad that they did make a complete car. Jon
