Ok, I know everyone has their opinions on dummy spots, cool or not. This thread is not about that. Fact is the way they are mounted can make or break the look. Soooooo instead of bashing those who want to mount dummy spots, lets post dummy spot pictures here so we can see how to tastefully mount them and make them look as best they can. I want to see some pics... dummy spotlight pictures only please!!:D

This thread is not about if they look right or not. Read the original post. He just wants pictures... not opinions

The whole idea of mounting dummy spots and make them look right is pretending they have handles.Thats where a lot of guys make mistakes mounting them.

    Right! Thats what I meant!

  14. I think it depends on what you are putting them on. In my mind, kkoacolonel is right in that they should be mounted as if they had handles....assuming it is a car that real spot would be mounted on, say a shoebox, a merc or a 40's car. However, if you study pics of late 50's mild customs painted by Watson (his t-bird above being an example), the spots were mounted nearly straight up and down at the corners of the cowl. It would be difficult to mount real spot on such cars, so I guess Larry's thought (and those built to that style and trend) was why bother to make them look real when obviously they couldn't be, so put "em where I think they look good?

I really like Watson's bird, I have an early 60s merc and I want to try to mount my spots with that look if I can. Any more pics?

Thats what happened to the Ford in the first picture. The thread is obviously about how to mount them, so the first thing you gotta do is mount them somewhere so they at least pretend to work, in front of the screen and on the back of the hood aint gonna do it!

sorry to rehash this one but i need advice.. i am thinking of mounting a pair on my 60 electra.. question.. do they need to be mounted in such a way so as to be flippable and point outward (or forward) once they're mounted? or are they supposed to remain pointed downwards always and never be flipped up?

dummy spots are for..... Just kidding. But I think they take away from the smooth flow of the cars. I'd go with out. Go Real or don't go.
