I put a SO-CAL forged axle with hairpins under my deuce pu because I like the fact that you can use the Henry original 37/40 style round spindles with Lincoln brakes and get a full turning radius without bending the steering arms.
If you are thinking about a after axle look at Chassis Engineering's 4" dropped forged axle. That's whats under my 32 pickup.HRP
HAMBer side-valve will sell you a new one at a good price with free shipping for HAMBers. Go to --> www.thehotrodcompany.com
You get what you pay for (and sometimes you don't). For axle dropping I recommend Greg Haynes. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253845
i second that. give Sid a call. he knows it all with the straight axles and always answers his phone.. i got me one of his 3" axles in my 57. leonard
Thanks guys for putting the good word out about me. Joe Casto drops only the 1928-36 Ford axles and I drop all the rest of years and brands. www.droppedaxles.com
Am very happy with Greg's axle, but all the other local guys have good reps too. To use a SoCal Tiawanese unit would be insulting to a nice American car...
Has anybody tried or heard of lucky 7 forged axels? http://lucky7ent.com/page14.html I thought Chassis Engineering and Socal only sold new forged units? Looking to buy one Chrome.
