Filled roofs have their place, but your coupe needs an insert. Your plan sounds perfect man....excited to see it done.

Okee doke, I'm going to get some things out of the way. First project was about a three hour deal. Aerials. I love em!

Started by marking off where they go..

    Grabbed some 1.25 inch conduit

    Also some thinner tubing

Then using the spacing from my extremely accurate penciling on the fender, I was able to cut a couple 8" lengths of tubing. Arrange them next to each other, weld a support plate to keep them straight.

Welded some washers to the bottom. Pretty, stack o dime weld isn't really necessary on something this hidden, but knock yourself out if you're so inclined.

    Drill drain holes

Weld a couple short lengths of the smaller tube over the holes for drainage. As you can see I thought ahead and got tubing!!

Using a hole saw I cut a couple holes at the correct spacing so the assembly can sit straight in..

Had to file it a bit but got a good fit after about five minutes...

Started with tack welds, then cut off the excess. Here some welds have been filed down, but still ugly..

    Getting closer..

After about 30 minutes of filing and hand sanding it's about right.

No lead. Just steel. Should be pretty smooth with some filler and once it's painted.

The Pleats could come down another 1.5-2" to make that bottom panel a bit smaller. Drive the car here and we'll knock it out in a weekend. I have white and black Naugahyde and a big Consew machine.
