  5. There's a guy on ebay that sells them sometimes. They are brand new for like $300 or so. He shows up on there once in a while

  7. I've called him about a few things. Nice guy but didn't have what I needed. As for $300 a pop I'm just gonna admire everybody elses at that price.

  9. Unfortunately that's the least you could expect to pay. The price has gone up for originals in the past couple years.

    Jegs sells them..around 300 bucks

  11. You used to be able to get them direct from Diest Safety but they are no longer on the web site. Brendan Murry http://www.racecarparts.com/ might be the sole distributor.

Keep in mind as of 1-1-08 open face helmets and respirator type face masks are no longer legal at NHRA sanctioned tracks for open bodied cars. Kind of limits the amount of tracks that you will be able to use them at. I don't think Brendan Murray was too happy about having to hang his up either or any one else that may have purchased one recently. Maybe the price will come down soon.

I think drag racing history will credit Tom McEwen with the "invention" of the classic FED facemask. Take a standard painter's facemask and sew up some nomex or equivilent and you have the classic mask.

At least I think that's how it was done "in the day"

  21. Damn, you just broke my heart. I don't want to run a front engine car with a full face helmet.
