Dragster frames........picture thread.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Royalshifter, Dec 21, 2007.

  1. Thought I'd add some photos I collected while researching my Woody chassised Fiat comp coupe project. The first shot is a comparison of three of the noted builders tubing layout.
The roller is a Woody car recently for sale on Racingjunk in California.
The modified roadster is my car as it was run in the 80's. I bought it out of the Buffalo, NY area, but it may have been based in MI. earlier in its life. Any history of it will be appreciated.

This is my Chassis Research K-88 frame. Its an early frame from around 1958, 93" WB. I found it on Long Island, sorry but I have no history of it. See more pictures in my album.

Can't believe I haven't posted these yet! The meager beginnings of the GATEKEEPER!
Have a Woody front end,wheels/tires, 8 3/4 housing and just bought a chutepack body for it. Slowly getting there!

Here are some shots of Scorpion 1, 2 and 5. Scorpion 1 is 2-3/4" drive shaft tubing and 1-1/2" pipe roll bar.
S 2 is aluminum frame with similar roll bar. S 5 is a Garlits 1964 chassis welded origonaly by Connie Swingel.

I have a few questions i purchased this fed about six months ago and was told that it was a 1959 Chassis Research TE 448 with a 98" wheelbase. But after some reserch i am not so sure? The rear hoop is not right but i was told by several people that there was a basic design but they would vary depending on how and who built it? I came with a chassis research steering wheel and gas pedal. The story goes it was raced in Salem Ohio and then found in a feild rusty. So it was re-tubed and the rear axle 8 3/4 and front end and stuff are orginal. Whats every ones thoughts on the style?

Hi its just tagged as a don long but not sure what it is..somebody copied that picture earlier in the postings but can remember what magazine it was from..the guy is from CALI??? Want to identify this chassis / body if possible
    Thanks Hambers

  23. I can't believe it. I found a dragmaster frame and a Chassis Research frame right here in Ventura. No engines, wheels or axles but they do have bodies. Both at the same place. I didn't have money on me when I found them but I rushed off and got some. They are home now and I will have pictures later tonight.
