I believe this is the one you are speaking about, Dean. I took this shot at the JB museum two weeks ago. If you look REAL close you can see it's big brother peaking out in the very upper left corner. The Buzz Lowe Kurtis full midget. Great cars and great museum! Wonderful to see them preserved Dean.

  2. Yep, that's it. The first trophy in the pic is my national championship trophy for 1957, the very first year there was a national championship. The Kurtis midget behind it was built by my dad too. It is #1 of the 10 continuation midgets Arlen built from his fathers original blue prints in 1992. Our family is very proud to have 3 Kurtis cars in the museum.

The dragster under the one with the bedding on it looks like my old dragster. Where did you get that one ?

I think the picture was taken at Royalshifters Garage. He's a moderator here on the HAMB. He owned the dragster with the bedding that we got years later after it changed hands a few times. I sent Royalshifter a PM two years ago asking about the hemi dragster and if it was for sale but he never responded to my questions.

Thanks, that was quite a shock seeing that picture. I haven't seen mine or one like it since I sold it to a guy in Topeka, Kansas in the 70's. I am loving your restoration. It is tempting me bad to do something similar.

Here's a better picture of the car, I lifted it off a thread started by Royalshifter back in 2010 "DRAGSTER SEES DAYLIGHT' 11-13-10008.jpg

I pulled this quote from Royalshifters thread, guess he found the correct rearend.

When we first got our Dragmaster rolling chassis we were going to build a screaming car to beat on at the strip so I had Fabcraft Metalworks build this Olds rearend for our car: Eaton Posi unit, 4:10 Gears, Mark Williams axles, all the good parts, then our build changed to a restoration so I found the correct M/T third member for the housing that was in our car when we got it. Now this one just sits on jack stands but it was there for a minute, and those big Olds 9.3 look so good. IMG_2012.JPG IMG_2304.JPG

At a quick glance there doesn't look to much difference between it and a ford 9"

That is a good looking outfit. That's what was in mine. Mine was painted gold. That photo sure brings back memories.

This reminds me of the frame Jesse James had hanging in his shop that he butchered for one of his
    "Monster Garage" builds.

It's been a year since this thread and our build ended, we took our dragster to a vintage gasser race yesterday to display it. It's the first time it's moved in the year since the build, it was nice to get it out doors. IMG_2649.JPG IMG_2650.JPG

I followed your thread, and I know you have a lot of work put into it, but I could not take that to a track and not make a pass in it!!!

It sure is tempting, We fire it up from time to time we just don't want to risk damaging the car. I never thought I would own anything that I wouldn't ride or drive but because of the history of the car the help from Dode in the restoration and the fact that he built the engine as he would have in 1960 with the correct vintage parts and has since passed away I decided along with my son John to perseve it as is.

  27. Still one of the best threads on here. Thanks for taking us along on the journey. You have a real piece of history

  28. Yes it belongs to Rockerhead here on the HAMB. It was an A/GS car back in the day. He put the stock wheel n shifter back in when he put it on the street

@1947knuck , congrats on saving one for history !!!!
I'm not sure if you saw this thread I did a few years ago. Another HAMBer, Frank Morawski, bought a dragster in the early 90's out in California. It sat around his garage for 20 something years before he started work on it. Dode was still around and helped dig up the complete history on the car. Turned out it was owned and raced under the ownership of Roland Leong and driven by Danny Ongias .
