well, just got the call from roger, avi casino has shut us down. after working with us for several months, giving us a date, etc., they have changed their minds, and are not going to allow us to have dragfest at their location. shame on you avi. real crappy way of doing business. none the less, we havent been able to get a hold of randy for a few weeks, so i dont know if he is planning on doing anything in the future, but i have backed out all together. i appologize to everyone that had made plans to come this year, and would like to thank everyone that has supported this thing from the beginning. as most of you know, my original plans for for dragfest was to have a hard core traditional drag race. after the 1st year it seemed to be heading in a direction that was more like march meet with more "newstalgia" cars participating. not really the direction i was interested in, but because of several circumstances, that was the way it was headed. i still have a strong motivation to do the kind of race that i believe in. real 60s dragracing...

once again, i appologize and thank you, zombie

    AVI Casino in Laughlin?

Have you been to their dragstrip? It isn't quite like Las Vegas.

If you want traditional style... Samoa on the north coast. Straight out of the 50's and it'll teach Stockton or Sacto people where "Nor Cal" really is. :)

  5. Zombie, PM me. Maybe we can get something going here in Tucson. They have a great little dragstrip here with awesome weather all the time, Dale

Of course that's a bit far for us eastern guys, but I sure appreciate the sentiment of "real" nostalgia cars, not these ridiculous newstalgia cars.
I've heard they are putting together a nostalgia race series in Kentucky, traveling around three different tracks, but I dout they will stick to true vintage style cars...

  9. I thought about Eagle Field right away as a possible alternative. Long live the idea of what you envision Scott, how bad ya want it? Is the next question. Rocky sure wanted to utilize Eagle Field and made it happen.-Weeks

Sorry about the bad news! Any way to get them to change their minds?

  18. We REALLY enjoyed the two DragFests that we went to at Bakersfield. Any thought of Irwindale, 1/8th mile may be cheaper for Insurance etc, also I have heard that the dragstrip keeps that place in the "black" financially" and the circle track is in the "red" all the time if it had to stand on its own. Also Irwindale has an "Old School" feel with the return rode and the stands so close together. They may really welcome the crowd you could bring. If you want to do 1/4 mile, what about Fontana? or you might be able to do something with Mel at the PSCA to try and keep costs down.

  19. Im headed to Laughlin Friday morning.
I'll swing by the Avi on the way in,,drop a deuce,,& wont flush.
I think this is from DragFest 2 at you-know-where.....one of the most enjoyable times Ive ever had.
    Keep at it!

  20. If you really want to get em at the Avi, drop your "duece" in the tank! (Its called "Upper Decking") The water will be ugly for some time or until some poor dude has to clean it out.

I sure hope there is another Dragfest sometime down the road. I went to all of them at Bakersfield and had a blast.

  22. For those that dont know of the Avi,its an Indian gaming casino on the Colorado River, just downstream from Laughlin Nev.
I dropped in there back in Jan because I saw online where the sell fireworks, legal in Nev.
I went into main casino & asked a cocktail waitress where they were.
She pointed me to a separate bldg about an 1/8 of a mile away,,the "Smoke Shop".
Its like a small convienience store where they sell all kinds of cigs & other stuff on one side and the other side is fireworks nation,,,TONS of shit.
I'll drop a deuce there Friday & take some pics,,fuck em.
