History Drag Roadsters............picture thread

It's not like I don't want to run a roll bar... On the contrary Id like one that will function but one that'll look good on a street Roadster.

Anyone have photos of street Roadster's with bars that are functional?

I thought you might like them...sad thing is ...the two coolest Drag RPU's I've seen are over the pond.

 

What's the story on these two fine machines?

 

Enloe......I believe Dean Lowe can fill you in on the red RPU, since he has had a "little" time in that driver's seat.

 

I thought that was his but I wasn't sure.
How's the wagon coming?

That picture looks like the old Hatfield race track - circa 1958/9. I was there when 6 carb Buick beat Don Garlets. Track was the straight of a 1/2 mile oval - maybe 1/16 drag strip. Whole thing surrounded by board fence. Back part was pits. OH ya; Buick rolled on their winning run. Garlets lit the tires for maybe 50 feet then coasted around the turn. Anything to race on.

LOL when I'm zooming along posting a big batch sometimes I don't look closely enough at them, good catch.

 

Canadian BB/A roadster

 

Wow Loudbang what a thrill for me to see your picture. The BB/A is the entry of Miller and Gregory "Pack Rat" and I believe they won their class at Indy that year. The trophy from Indy and equally unique the engine from that racer are still around. The attached picture is from when my friend Brooke DeShaw (rip) owned the car. You can see the relief in the rad shroud for the front mounted blower. Thank you so much, appreciated.

 

Good stuff glad I could bring back some good memories for you guys. That is really a "neat" roadster not just one more of the same old thing. Looks like a lot of attention was paid to details that make or break a car both on and off the track.

ps you will be in for a treat I just found a source of Canadian cars and will be getting to it sometime soon.
