The picture of the gas station was taken outside some military post, by the looks of barrack in the background.

I really like this car... Who can tell us more about it ?

  8. I can tell you the blown small block came from the Conway & Woodhouse national record holding A street roadster out of Colorado in the 1960's.

Thanks Dean, This car looks like it was built to pass tech, yet retains a look that is period perfect.

That night shot will give you goose-bumps!

  11. Well, that night shot is NOT my dad.
Its the same car but the cage was changed, frame lengthened, had a 392 with an Enderle (my dad was true to Stu Hilborn),it had Halibrands on it with Goodyears (my dad was true to M&H).The guy driving is Pat Reynolds, who bought the car from my dad.
My dad helped him get it going after his accident in '71 & it only ran a couple of times,,and not well.
Big wheelstand at OCIR bent the frame, front wheels,& knocked a hole in the new Milodon oil pan.
Pats wife freaked out & told him he was done lol.
Pat sold the car to a couple of guys & they ran it in the Econo classes that were popular in the early 70s.
They cut it down REAL short, painted it pearl white with some gold leaf with a carbureted SB Chevy & had a blast with it.
They sold it a year or so later to 'some guy in Santa Ana'---

Even though it's not your Dad. He's old car is really cool. Great photo of The Scrounger also. One of my favorite AA/FA's of all time.

  13. Yes, there were three cars campaigned out of the Shreeve stable in '61. The Fiat that Dave McClelland now owns. The '31 Ford Roadster (333) that I am restoring. And Hank's Tank, the '29 Model A Sedan (whereabouts long since lost). Interesting note: I am building the roadster to spec with the way is was set up for a while in '61, which ironically had the blown 303 Olds that was primarily run in Hank's Tank...

  14. ...and speaking of THAT blown 303 Olds... I was fortunate enough to get THE actual Mag that was run in THAT engine in '61. Russel Wooley, the one surviving Shreeve principle from back in the day had it tucked away in his shop, and made it available. For me, just holding it I think I can channel 333 and Hank's Tank!

In fact... as a sneak peak... here is a pic of the now restored ORIGINAL mag sitting in the blown 303 Olds engine that will go in 333... :)

    Great info Darren!
If 2 of the 3 cars survived, the odds of the sedan surviving are even slimmer but you never know.

    Love 'em!
This thread has been great at showing the evolution of the cars as years went on. The difference between the mid 50s and mid 60s is incredible, yet they still have the same basic bad ass vibe.
