Even in the 60's there was massive tire distortion....(Lions @ about the 1200' mark.)

Great to see a photo of Billy "The Kid" Scott. He dropped out of the scene around 67 or 68 I'm told to serve in the Army. His gas dragster was one bad Hombre and consistently won.

GREAT shot, and it looks like distortion on the blower belt as well. Thank's for this right clicker.

The top left photo shows Lance Larsen and Mike D'Dario who were Marv Eldridge's and Rusty Deling's wrenches. Lance continues to be a respected crew chief and Mike is in charge of ticketing at Infineon Raceway.

I believe this car was restored by Ed Rahinski who ran the Maruader comet in the early 60's. I saw him at Bowling Green where he had Chrisman's 68 Comet and the above comet. He lives in Knoxville and regularly attends the nostalgia events.

Rick, wasn't the "Heidelberg Speed Shop" a made up place?

    I seem to remember that.

Here are some photos of the 60's Corvair and Vega. The one that shows us racing The Flying Dutchman shows we would race in any condition. I think it was high 30's.

The V for victory sign while doing the burnout is flat out cool. Love to see more of this guy doing that. Nice...

JIm Barillaro restored both the 65 and 67 Jack Chrisman Comets. Ed Rachanski did have the Maruaders 65 AFX Comet that he made into a roadster. Jim Barillaro was at Bowling Green.

Didn't Mike Snivley start out driving the Heidelberg roadster? I think he also drove for Charles "Scotty" Scott before Billy Scott took over...

Mike Snively was a mentor to Billy Scott, I wasn't aware that he drove the roadster,
but your memory has proven to be better than mine on more than one occasion....;)
