    Question: who was driving the Hawaiian funny car...wasn't the Leong/Prudhomme team over by then with Don driving mostly TF?

  5. It was Larry Reyes,but he wasn't hurt too seriously in the accident.But Church Key is right,he would be seriously injured a couple years later in the Super Cuda. Dennis Doubleday

    that car or several of those cars met a terrible end. didn't one burn to the ground at edgewater a little later? my son and i got to meet larry & his family at bowling green ...nice people.

    The two lightweight Galaxie Hi-risers pictured are the same car. The first picture is from 1964 raced by the original owners, the Hawes Bros. The second picture is from 1966 with the then owner Walt Derringer at the wheel. Both pictures were taken at US60 Dragway in Hardinsburg, KY which is still in operation today. I understand that the Galaxie has been restored back to original and is now in Canada.

    The '66 Nova in the far lane was owned and driven by Bill Felker. Some may remember Bill in later years as an engine builder and IHRA techman. I am sorry to report that Bill recently passed away.
