HKH - Thanks for posting the junior fueler pics. This was certainly a So Cal phenomena, not saying that it orginated there...just saying these cars were running in a recognized class - finally. Superb racecars, superb performances, superb competition. Can't ask for much more than that.

Thats the pit truck for the flintstones funny car. If you are wanting to know the make, model, year, cant help you there. Note the nose of the dutchman in the comet picture, these pictures were taken simotaniously.

I find it unbelievable myself because I got the Dutchman photo several years ago from Al Vanderwoude's son. And I now see the comet picture for the first time here. Its like a time warp puzzle, one piece at a time. Thanks for the info on the pictures history Dennis.

Dennis, do you know of anyone or a site, that offers an explanation behind the rise and fall of the AHRA/NASCAR inj gas funnycar circuit?

  24. Duke,I don't,but we may have to take that on ourselves.I find the circuits of the 60s-70s fascinating, tried to glean some info on the ECFFCC over at the funny car site, but had little response.I will say this, three of the AHRA injected gas circuit stars of 1969 moved from injected gas to blown fuel(Bob Cain,Tom Sneden,Skeets Phillips)in 1970.Hard to tell which came first, the chicken or the egg.Did thier moving on colapse the circuit,or was the fact that the circuit went away motivating those guys to move up the ranks ?
