    Swade;

Man, what a fine collection of heavy hitters! You had an eye for the gassers! Were some shots taken at Thompson, Ohio? Maybe Norwalk? Many thanks for the pic. video!

Thanks for the accolades. I wish I could offer some pics like the rest of you instead of recollections from an ever waning memory...LOL. And yes, it was a great era. One saturated with blown and/or nitro shows every week-Irwindale, OCIR, Lions, San Fernando, Fontana all competing for the fans attention. Thank God I had a bevy of family members (dad, uncles, cousins) who liked to go and watch or compete. Were it not for them, I would have never ventured to these hallowed grounds.

For me there were quite a few videos at the bottom of the screen that look to be put together by the same person...drag racing in the '60s parts 1,3, and 4, never did see part 2, other gasser videos as well. Never know what you will get when you click on the videos at the bottom of the screen at the end.

Is that the original car restored or a reproduction? It looks great! Is it yours?

I stand corrected it does in fact look very original.
The close up of the motor is very impressive.
I've also been a big fan of "Bad Habit".

this is not a 1/4-mile, or 1000-foot, car!

here it was in its natural state!

driver, noel black of sacramento, ca, was killed in this car on the salt flats in 1970.

running the car at the drags was purely a means of scoring a few bucks for show money and sponsors for the attempt on the land speed record.

the car was 4-wheel-drive, with the engines only connected together via the ground through the wheels, with the front engine delivering about 70% of the power.

the car went airborne between the 4 and 5 miles after it broke a rear axle, which put the car sideways turning it into a wing; a piece of the car (one of the tires/wheels) physically broke the timing light in that timed-mile at 417 mph.

Great attention to detail on the restoration!
Did Charlie Hill or Bob Parmer still own the car when you bought it?
Sorry to get off track on the topic but I really dig that Topolino!

Here is the rear shot of my buddy's '52 chevy that someone posted on p263. The car is still all-steel, running a big block chevy on a TON of nitrous. Best pass is in the low 6's in the 1/8th...

Some cool old photos loaned to me by my buddy, Danny Jones....
All were taken at either Rockford (Byron) or Cordova in the late 60's and early 70's....
