BIG body Mustangs, including a Shelby!
Dusters and 'Cudas and Challengers, oh my!
(BTW, hockey outside is cool...go Wings!)
Odds are that I was standing on the other side of that track!
Don't miss those metal rails at all though! Especially after seeing Boyd stuff his Red Turkey rail into it!
Thanks for the memories!
Can't forget the Chevy Camaro guys...
Grumpy and Richie Zul
Tony Feil and Wally Booth
More of Bob Sullivan's wife's car...
It's not that old a picture, taken last summer, but it is an original
nitrobrother - We must have been hanging around the same neighborhood!
Another big fan of the early Pro car, the first 10 years or so. At least on the surface they still resembled what the manufacture created.
Did Bunny run that '68 in the P/S class? If so, that's the first 67/68 I've seen set up for Pro Stock. Very cool...
Sandy Elliot was another Canuck doing battle in the Stock and Pro Stock classes. Nicely put together cars and definitely unique paint jobs!
Richie Zul in the Jenkins Rent a Racer
Wally Booth in his converted 68 S/S car
Even though I bleed Ford-blue, the RS-nosed Camaro was one of my favorite body styles. Bruce Larson and Grumpy.
More RS Camaro fun-n-games.
Zul and Strickler.
Chrisman's Comet decides it would rather be a roadster. From June, 1968 issue of SS&DI.
Richie Zul is one of the good guys. he was on the circuit with my brother back in the day. Someone I never see any pics of or hear about is Pete LaFons, anybody here remember him? He ran a pro stocker back in teh day as well.
This run was about 45 minutes after winning class over Watson & Needham. First round of street eliminator. No Christmas tree in '62. All eliminator brackets were heads up racing. I got around the '58 Impala C/G winner, but lost to Sam Parriot in the next round.
Love those early PRO Stocks
larson;s car and zul's are the same car later run by dennis ferrera as a comp b/ea in division 1 todd
Warren Johnson, not everyone's favorite person but was originally from
my home state of Mn and very talented
I wish that we still had the A/FC class...injected nitro is way cool. Drake Viscome's 480-inch Boss powered Pinto. From August, '72 issue of SS&DI.
John Hagen, my all time favorite driver. His GREEN '68 Cuda was my all time
favorite car bur never got any good pictures of it. The green and gold on his 68 in the sun was just spectacular. Here is his Duster">
i just need to post in this thread so i can find it again at a future date.
just spent 45 minutes going thru it and didn't even put a dent in it so it will take a few hours more.
loving all the old time shots.
gotta find the pics i took at lions back in the late 60's.
One more for tonight and then I'll turn it back over to the pros.
Ummm...."Gruntin' Gremlin"???? Maybe I should post this over on the funny drag car names thread, too!
