I wasn't born soon enough to have been there. That's why I'm trying to leave my mark for history.

  8. Ahh yes, the famously infamous ( I mean that in a good way) ‘41 Willys built and raced by those mad scientists and Famoso Speed Shop ( the car made the cover of TRK Magazine a few years ago)

Some like Dean were lucky enough to participate while other youngsters like me just hung over the fence and wandered the pits soaking in every glorious detail, then went home and devoured HRM. I'd like to say that the fuel dragsters, altereds, gassers and street roadsters were my favorites, but the truth is I liked them all, right down to the B and C stock Galaxies and GTOs. Being at the drags was better than anything else.

I think I've seen this car at the Dover Dragstrip reunion, it runs a 425 or 455 Olds motor.

What's "wrong" with this cars build ?

The roll bar is ABOVE...the drivers head...unlike many cars of this era !
The bar could be supported a little better, but at least the drivers head will still be on his shoulders in the event of a rollover/slide, albeit with some scars on the front of his helmet.

Many years ago at the Antiques Nationals I ran the sedan to test a notion about rear end ratios . . .

We then applied the "San Berdoo Quickchange" and ran again . . .

We picked up a second in E.T. with the same speed. It was a little hard to turn back on the return road as the caster had quite an effect.

I hope you notice that I, polite as usual, let the cars in the other lane go ahead first. Maybe a reason I was more successful in Land Speed Racing -- 7 records a Bonneville at El Mirage and joined the 200 MPH Club.
