    Hey RS,

That photo op of the FED at San Onofre nuke station is classic. Great capture. Today, that place is being shut down, very slowly, but the photo opportunity along that portion of the coast is pretty nice. The owner must have connections to the public service center there back then. Now, restrictions are tighter.

That photo of the Trotter and Hightower FED looks right at home there. That place has grown since back in those mid 60's, but is slowly being shut down and dismantled.

That's interesting stuff... I know all about being around nuke plants.... I live about two miles from one....well it was one they shut it down years ago but just a couple years back , after several years of dismantling, they blew up the cooling tower and the wind was blowing my direction covered everything in concrete dust...it was like mount St. Helens eruption all over again....oh yes I live in Oregon.....the plant was the Trojan Nuke Power Plant.....glad you liked the post...
    Thanks

I think these also were lost in the big 2017 crash. And should be here. Jack Costella's 500 pound F85 powered digger. In 1962. Note go kart steering and bicycle Dragster Jack's 001-1.jpg wheels and tires.

    Hello,

Everyone likes a mystery. So, who is Kenny Lindley/Don Hampton racing in this short movie clip? What kind of FED is it in the tower side lane? What kind of motor? The second racecar...Different motors different race cars…please help solve the mystery.
    thanks,

Ardun, Herb Ries stop by my place today and I ask him about Porter Ries and Chambers. Herbie doesn't recall a Chambers partnership....

  13. Zane Shubert in the Herbert-Shubert car - early '60s. I'm guessing the injected version was to shake it down. Then they added the blowers. That chute must have packed a wallop when it snapped

Mark, Interesting, thanks for the update...I wonder if the Chambers partnership was with Steve Porter? I will check.

Walt Stevens recalls that his car broke the rear end while Dunlap's blew out the back of the intake. Walt's car was harder to push and the rear end locked up 4 times during the trip down track and had to be rocked loose each time. In his words "At a 1000 ft the light went out". Both end up in the hospital with body temps around 107. Cold showers and alcohol baths were the treatment. Dunlap made the next round.

  22. Steve Woods having a little trouble... seems the rear end in the Willys decided to re-locate itself at about 100 mph. That would have been interesting to get stopped

    Dave,
this is the former Beebe and Mulligan Fighting Irish car (the first one) and I doubt that is Kolb driving as he was way too tall for the car and his helmet was well above the roll bar when he did drive it.

I don't know but that starter with the snazzy slippers doesn't look like Buster Couch.
