40 Willys: primered, black, moon discs who is in front of the Grist Bros

Hello, (posted on the Willys thread.too)
Here is another mystery Willys from 1960. This action does not happen often, but who is in front of the A/Gas Grist Bros Willys at Lions? It is a rare sight to see someone getting that much of a jump at the start in the A/Gas ranks, especially against the A/Gas record holder in the West. The norm is that the Grist Bros. would be the ones doing the hole-shot. It looks like a HOWARD CAM sticker on the rear panel of this mystery Willys. But the name of the driver and owner is still a question mark.

    Any help is appreciated...Thanks.

Elmer Snyder, early '50s, Elmer, better known as "unsprung" transitioned from this coupe to a dragster that, as of a few years ago, he was still running...

Dick Belfatti's "Shadow" in Arizona...Dick, like others who ran the famous Speed Sport scoops, was friends with the Speed Sport crew and the Greek....he was badly burned driving an earlier fueler, so turned the driving chores over to others, Bobby Vodnik, for one. Dick was from Willow Grove, PA.

  16. Dave, I met Elmer at the first Eagle Field meet. He has run his flathead dragster at every meet there since. In his 80's he is still showing the young guys how to kick ass with a fuel flathead. Even at his age, you will not put a hole shot on him, his reflexes are as good as ever. The man is an inspiration.

Does anyone out there have any pictures of Eddie Potter's wicked looking Comp Coupe? Back in the early 60's I bought a few 'used, used' parts from him for our dragster. Went into the service and lost track of stuff. I heard he wrecked that coupe pretty good. Often wondered about him over the years. He was such an 'interesting' personality
