Ferd Napfel’s name was often misspelled Fred, but his Maryland based, ’55 FGas Chevy was nationally known.

O'Connell, Hill, Bussart. Ithis 1957 Chevy had a 292″ small-block with Hilborn injection and a Borg-Warner four-speed. Several times NHRA National Record holder, F/Gas Indy class winner and Div 2 points champ.

  12. Classic or not, it doesn't fit the HAMB criteria and should not have been posted.

I believe that this is Goleta, '48 or '49. Goleta, north of Santa Barbara, CA, was the first organized drag race meet, though there was no real schedule, run by the Santa Barbara Timing Association. The buildings in the back are still there...

Don Montgomery's Hudson, left...Don hopped up the Hudson engine but not enough power to be competitive, so he went to a GMC, in a Cord, later in a '32 coupe....which later got a blown Chrysler.

Santa Ana, Chrisman Brothers #25 when it was #60...this was an old lakester that dated back to the 1930s...many owners modified it until the Chrismans converted it to drag racing...now very well restored....notice that helmets and roll bars were optional

R&C covers Saugus, 1954, none of the cars identified...the "Jitterbug" below is Harry Duncan's, 354" Chrysler, purple and yellow paint (how could R&C confused a '34 for a '32??)

The King Speed shop coupe in post 49826 ran out of Lansing IL and was named the Judge, and the name registered. Rumor was he won a law suite against Pontiac when they used the name. Have great memories of that car and other similar running at US30 in Gary IN when I was a teen in the 70s. Most ran in a class called Run Tuff. Even the class name was cool.

You are correct. many of the posts on this thread sometimes do not fit the criteria. How about you put in the work needed to dig up a few old photos and post them instead of using 700 of your 732 posts to police this thread. Getting sick of all the complaining. Seems as though a couple of guys are just sitting around shooting radar.

  27. You need to read Ryan's thread "Growing Pains". I don't want to see this thread shut down if Ryan has to step in. Once one recent photo of a rear engine dragster gets posted, others think its ok and the thread gets way off topic.

If you're going to comment on my number of posts, please be accurate. I've posted 15 times previously in this thread and 4 were stating certain posts were off topic. Of my remaining 717 in other threads, maybe 5 were about staying on topic.

Again, read Ryan's "Growing Pains" thread.

And to keep you happy, a shot from 1958.
