Here it is with the body on, it is Jerry Hill (Newberg,Oregon), AA/C. Sometime around the late 60's, the guy that owned T-Bar Chassis out of Texas, relocated up here to Oregon. I don't think he even set up shop, before selling his tig welder, chassis jig and all of his fixtures, to my friend Jerry Hill. Jerry learned the ropes, and built some of the best chassis, along with some beautiful bodies, and tin work. Jerry was a very competitive driver, in Gas and Alcohol Dragsters, along with BB/FC for many years, along with being a mentor to me. 2013-06-07 163840.jpg

Richie Broughton at New England Dragway. Richie did suffer multiple injuries in the crash and was transported to Exeter Hospital before returning to New York. He did not lose consciousness during the crash, but could not release his harness as his right arm was broken and his index finger on his left hand had been nearly lost. He also suffered broken ribs in the crash. Richie finished out the 1971 season with a loaned car and driven by Elwood Banker. (I posted this a while back, information on the incident came from topfuel125)

Here is a shot of the re-created car that I built for Ernie Broughton (not actually related to Richie). Richie still had some parts of the car (40 years later) so we were able to incorporate the original steering butterfly, brake handle, fuel tank and rear wheels into the build. Earlier this year at the "big show" event at Epping the car finally made it to the finish line more than 40 years after the crash.

This is an amazing re-creation, cool that some of the original parts went in...according to nickthebandit, the Broughton top fuel dragster was at the New England NSRA Hot Rod Reunion meet last weekend.

The Pacini Brothers Showdown Anglia was the old Kohler Brothers King Kong car.

  26. That is the Ex Kohler Bros. Car. Sold to the Pacini Bros in 68, raced as "Showdown", They sold it in '76. It went through a couple of owners, got street Rodded, and then Carlos Cedeno restored it back to it's King Kong livery.
It is one of only a couple of the original Anglia Gasser's to have survived - most were rolled into little balls at some point

Is the Brewer and Mull car the same one that Austin and Grassi ran as the Fuel Cuda?
Looks like an earlier version, the A&G car was also sponsored by Brewer Chry/Ply.
Appears to be a NW track.
I never saw the Fuel Cuda run, but the first time I saw a magazine photo of it, the car stopped me in my tracks, mesmerizing, I haven't been the same since.

Here are a couple of pictures of the A&G car from Don Ewald's site...I can't tell from the above picture if this car is a slingshot type...but the A&G was:

    Austin&Grassi3-w.jpg

    Certainly was the same sponsor

It may have been the same body (or out of the same mold) but there are significant chassis differences. The Brewer and Mull car has the motor completely ahead of the windshield while the A & G car has it well back inside the car.
