First, some shots from Sanford, ME, from BangShift:

    sanford2.jpg
I think the car in the near lane is Eldon Sidebotham

    sanford14.jpg
Probably same car as above, TE-440 chassis

    sanford15.jpg
    No ID on either

    sanford19.jpg
No clue here, maybe those long winters finally got to these guys! Eldon Sidebotham when the car ran a blown Olds

    sanford20.jpg
    This is early '60s

    sanford23.jpg
Dave Sanderson ran an injected Pontiac. I think he may have died in a boating accident?

    sanford25.jpg
Pretty stout times for an altered back then, think that Jack Doyle was from Massachusetts...the "Mighty Mouse" figure came from the Italian name for their Fiat coupe, "Topolino" or "little mouse."

    and some random stuff:

    $_57.jpg
Not sure on the ID of this car at Lions, maybe Keeter & Stewart?

    $56.jpg \
    No ID

    $big wheel.jpg
I think this might be the Big Wheel gas burner from Minnesota, Dragmaster chassis. This car later got wrecked in what looked like a pretty bad crash.

    $linc.jpg

Rear engined modified roadster, Lincoln powered...driver sat under "hood," looked out of the Plexiglas grill insert. Claustrophobia would be a disqualifier for driving this car.

    40.jpg
    No ID

    dragster2.jpg
I think that this is Union Grove, picture by Darwin Busch. No ID on either car

    dragster3.jpg
No ID again, also Union Grove...anyone??

    dragster5.jpg
repeat no ID...no guardrails between this smoker and the guy who looks like he is taking a picture (or just cringing??)

    magnificent-seven.jpg
Finally, an ID. Leroy Chadderton, in the Magnificent 7 fuel altered. Leroy was from California, but if you ran a fuel altered you needed to travel to make any money...so I assume that Leroy was here to make a few bucks match racing or bracket racing at Union Grove.

    hustlerI.jpg
Chrisman Brothers & Cannon, still on gas at the '58 NHRA Nationals. That well built blower ducting from the front-mounted 6-71 would disappear in an explosion, and Chrisman replaced it with one of the first Weiand Typhoon top mounted blower manifolds to win the '59 Smokers meet, then on fuel.

    ivo.jpg
Ivo, not sure where. Guessing that this an early version of his famous single Buick, notice the steel rear wheels.

    moss.jpg
Jack Moss near lane, Dodge powered, from Texas

    norek.jpg
Jerry Norek, gas roadster from Long Beach, CA, probably at the NHRA Nationals, Chrysler powered. Yes, the door is decorated with a portrait of Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Neumann. The roadster was sponsored by Reath Automotive in Long Beach, and ran the aircraft carburetor setup that Reath built and later ran on the Raker's Car Club Fiat modified and the Vulcan's Car Club Vicky drag car that has now been recreated.

    langley.jpg
Bobby Langley? It is, or was, Bobby's, but it also looks like it is red, not Langley black. Bobby sold one of his dragsters to a guy who renamed it "the Red Horse," is this it, Texas guys?
