I was at the Winternationals when the Boston Shaker crashed. My dad filmed it- after the wheelie, the car came down & snapped the front end. It careened into the other lane & hit the guardrail, where the body flew off & the rear end with both tires still attached cartwheeled down the track. Kosty ended up right in front of us, strapped in the chassis, engine still running. I've gotta find that footage!

Hello again, I'm slowly getting some stuff scanned in and I think most of these haven't been seen before. My apologies for any reposts. To make my views easier to find, I'm starting some albums on my partsrivet home page. Eventually, I hope to have everything from a particular race in it's own folder. They will be in slide order (or nearly so) so that you'll be able to see the event as it developed. This is not a speedy process so you might want to check back from time to time an see what's been added.

The attached view is from Green Valley Raceway near Smithfield TX . This is either the fall of 1965 or spring of 1966. You can just make out a blown altered in the dragsters smoke.

A while back, we had some conversations about these 4 across runs at Green Valley Raceway. Some were time trial runs while others we're of cars in a particular bracket. I don't recall exactly how the AHRA did this, but here are several cars that may have similar displacement engines. Could this be a heads up race of a 383 Dodge, 396 Chevelle and 389 Poncho? This is all speculation on my part. Any other info appreciated[IMG]

This is the actual handicap method I remember Green Valley using. Note the interval between cars on the grid; looks like about a car and a half. A slow car might be spotted half way down the track from the starting line. Small block Chevy's anyone?[IMG]

Reed and Crow's nice C/G. I have pictures from two different GV races around this time so I'm not sure of the date. Late 65 to early 66 is my best guess.

Texas had a lot of AA/FD's in the '60's. If anyone recognizes this car let us know.[IMG]

Looks like a home brewed funny car getting underway. This car belonged to Harry Baker Motors. It was the Golden Commando's 64 Plymouth SS/A car with a lot of modifications. Thanks to Funny Car for the info. That's all I have scanned at the moment. [IMG]

Rick, I don't think that's OCMP. The 'chute cover and other stuff just doesn't look right. Edit, it is the OCMP car, just looked at some pics on WDIFL and it matches. Sorry for the confusion

This car was later rebodied and became the American Bandstand Corvette F/C. Up until the point that it crashed at Surfers Paradise Raceway in Australia it still had the dropped and drilled I beam front axle.

Mickey Brown drove this blown Olds gas burner, I think Nye Frank built it. From the George Klass collection

Same car as above, I think it ran over 162 on gas, featured in HRM
