Hit the above link for a few pictures ... that's all I've ever seen of the races there. I never knew they even ran there and I was to many strips in the area in the sixties and early seventies.

rooman, you are a legend. Thanks for these latest pics, especially the first one as we are currently restoring this car, and it's good to see that it is still remembered.

    Ross,
when I found that slide in the collection I thought of you guys and had planned to forward it to you. I may have some other shots of the car when Morrie had it and if I find any I will either post them or forward them to you.

Old Stan Pobjoy. They had to change the rules to exclude him. That veedub powered bike was eating 'em all up!

I raced at McGuire Strato Rods in the late 70's and early 80's. I have some photos and time slips from there. I will have to scan them when I get a chance......

Kuddos for the Aussie pictorial. No doubt the Holden 6 banger has been refined to the Nth degree. You wouldnt happen to have any shots of Jim Read's full bodied jr fueler would you? I recall reading where he bested all the blown cars at the 1970 Nationals at Surfers Paradise. I thought that was so cool, for at the time, my neighbor was racing a jr fueler here in So-Cal.

WCD. The purple injected car in this lot is Jim Read's J/F in the hands of the guy that he sold it to, Kevin Pinkstone.

  20. Ross, the pic was taken at Speedworld Dragstrip in Surprise, Arizona during the Standard1320 reunion.

    WCD,
I have some photos from the 70 Nats in my collection (somewhere) and when I eventually get to them I will post what I have. I am pretty confident that I have at least one shot of the Paramatta Spares junior fueller.

    Who makes these front wheels??

  23. The wheels on that altered, I think were made by Ian Splatt who used to race altereds from injected BB to AA/A back in the seventies. He still makes wheels for street/ strip and harleys. His business name is dragway engineering. His daughter is Rachael Splatt who raced Top Fuel, both in Australia and the US. Rooman would know more about him and I'm sure his cars will be featured in some of his photos.
    Regards Phil R.
