My 1940 Deluxe Business Coupe has an outside door lock on the passenger side but none on the drivers side. Wonder why. Anyone know why?

Ford only had a keyed lock on the curbside door for safety concerns.
Did not want a person standing in the street to lock or unlock the door.

33-34 Willys had the same thing.

  6. You would lock the driver door then slide over the seat and exit the passenger side and lock the curbside door. The idea was that there was less of a chance of getting hit by another car while exiting the vehicle.
