I'm thinking about selling two or three sets of Halibrand Wheels (mag.). After digging stuff out surrounding the first set (rear), I pulled the first set out. With tape in hand, I started measuring the required dimensions. As cast, never polished. Surface very good. 15" dia. - checked/verified 4-1/2" B.C. - checked/verified 3-3/4" B.S. - checked/verified 9-1/4" wide - checked, incorrect..! The "cast in" numbers on the spoke state 8.50" wide. Measure again. From the inside of the rim flange to the inside of the rim flange (tire/wheel interface) = 9-1/4". Interesting find. Will see what the others measure up to. Mike
Ha, so subtle but clever wording for an advertisement Mike. Wish I had some spare change.........lots of spare change.
It's obvious, they've been improperly widened, probably unsafe and will likely only bring "scrap" price, since they're only fit for shop decoration. If squirrel is willing to pay the shipping, I'd just stick him with them. They're probably a fire hazard to you as well since they're magnesium and might spontaneously combust! Lynn
Sorry lake - You know not what you speak..! Not widened. Or if they were, someone did a highly meticulous job of it..! No porosity, no incomplete weld marks, no hand grind or machine marks. Wrong again..! Mike P.S. - Yea, I may end up selling two or three sets of rear Halibrands that I have. These being one. Though because of the rim width, I may keep these.
