I was looking thru some old albums and ran across some pics I took when I stopped at the museum on the way back from Key West a few years back. Thought you guys might enjoy.

Battery was low on the camera so some of the pics didn't turn out great.

Well worth a visit, plan on spending at least a half a day there.

We've lived in Florida since 1982 and I drove by Garlits place a bunch of times and never thought to stop, then we went to Billetproof there and I was blown away. Don never threw anything away in his entire life and even has brand new flatheads and hemis in crates, as well as some very rare parts and every drag car I grew up seeing in magazines.

Words can't explain how cool this place is.:)

I have lived in Fla since the early 70s and have seen the Museum grow from the time they laid the foundation. My favorite part of the museum, besides his personal items collection (he never threw anything away from his childhood) is the engine room! Definately need to make the trip to visit this place. A day would just about get you started at checking everything out.

I lived in Ocala Fla. about 15 yrsago. We went to the museum afew times, really cool stuff. Great for nostalgic racing buffs. I met and BS'd with Don a few times at a local car show up the street from my house. He always showed up in a 40 Ford coupe with an old Hemi in it. Talk about a tight fit! Don is a great guy, friendly and more than willing to talk cars til you ears hurt...I enjoyed his museum and his hospitality when we were there.

Don Garlits is the real deal. That man lives and breathes drag racing and hot rodding. And a really cool guy talked to him on several occasions at shows. Other than being a lil hard of hearing he is a pretty cool guy to shoot the bull with. - Mayor

a pic took last weekend @ Z-Max dragway in Concord NC
