Thoughts for quick recovery from Alabama, he was, quite simply, the best drag racer ever....and this from a native California guy, Pat was with him from the beginning of his career, hope she recovers fully...
Prayers said, Big Daddy. You've been an icon of mine since my dad lifted me up as a little guy to shake your hand at the Edinburg Speedway in south Texas (around 1971 or so). God Bless you and Pat.

Back in the 60's big time drag racers were not expected to be "nice guys". Don Garlits could not be any thing else, that's all he knows how to be. Met him at Phenix City, Alabama at a National Points and Record Meet in 1968. Most likely he doesn't remember me but I sure remember him. Bigger than life and twice as fast. I'll remember Pat and him tonight at evening prayers too.
