Until I finally bought my 250, I had a regular search for '86-up engines (and 221s, for all the exterior dress) on Craigslist. It seemed like the 5.0s came up pretty regularly every other month - usually a takeout from someone who was fitting a crate engine, a stroker, or a 351. Good luck!

Speaking of this: Does anyone have experience with Scarebird's four-lug-to-five-lug brake kit? I used their four-lug kit on my '62, but my wife's '61 is going to be a five-lug car.

From what I see it's the same kit but with a five lug hub and matching rotor. As long as you get a disc/drum master from a Maverick as the directions state, I seriously think you'll have anything to worry about. I absolutely LOVE my fourlug kit on the wagon, and I'm firmly convinced that it has saved my miserable tail twice so far.

I am running the 4-lug kit too. It rocks. Everything I have ever installed from Scarebird was Swiss-watch-precise.

I like the wheels, but I am thinking of them in 15", as the roads are rough here. That and painting the car in Gulf livery colors.

  9. Right! that's done it , I'm going out to chop the B pillars and door glass frames off the '60 !

    Great profile/stance Evilfalcon , I really like it .

I messed around trying to get a Photoshopped version of the '60-'62 roof to look like a Starliner top, but couldn't accomplish it with the stock rear window. If you had the ability to make a flatter rear window and lay it down, I think it could really look good.

I made some progress on the old bird yesterday :).
I am working on the fender pockets where the bumper will tuck neatly into.
Starting with the old paper templates.

That is rad my friend. What's the turning circle like? It looks like I am going to have to cut away some of the engine compartment and upper footwell to get my tires to fully turn. Did you have to do any such modifications?

thank you very much guys ! turning circle is next to nothing when fully down . haven't touched anything yet but that would be a good start with the engine compartment. I have no room with the 7" rim up front as I haven't shortened the control arms yet

That is good to know. Thank you for that information. I have already shortened my control arms an inch and a half, so I was curious if that's why my tires were rubbing on the engine compartment . Rethinking your sway bars and strut rods are a whole nother area of fun which I have not tackled yet. Let us know what you figure out so we can compare notes :)
