I have a dodge 904 torque flite transmission that I am trying to year ID. I come up with any thing from '62 to '73. I need to rebuild it, but I need to know the year before I can get a kit for it, they change it in I believe '72. So it would be a different kit.

The stamping on the side of it is PK368 1063 4031.

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks, Pat

    Pat,
That’s a 1973 small block 904 from behind a 318. Standard duty it most likely has 3 clutches front and rear.

I thank you. Now I can order the right kit. They made a change in the 904 between '71 & '72 from what I can find out.

    Thanks, Pat

I know on the 727 the front support and drum got a wider bushing to support the 3rd gear/ reverse drum.

It’s been awhile on the 904’s but could be the same kind of change.

This book has lots of good illustrations and good photos if you do not have a shop manual handy.

That’s a nice looking book. I use the factory service manuals because I spent 20 years at the dealer.

That change also included part throttle kickdown to the valve body.
