Do you Think This Car Needs to Be Chopped a Few Inches?

    Wow.
If I wanted to chop something, that would NOT be it. That's pretty damn unique AND complete AND very very old.
Cutting it up would probably do a disservice to any future financial ends to it as well. Fix it up original, sell it to a collector for bux, then buy one choppable....and then, CHOP TIL YOU DROP.
    (In My Opinion)

Here ya go, I just hope I'm not the reason this car may get chopped....I still think what I wrote in the above comment.
It's a quick one, so the fence is all jacked, but you get the idea.

Cut the shit out of it

  6. If it were mine, I would take the body off the chassis,
store the stock frame somewhere safe,
and make a new frame which drops the whole body real low,
the car will look great, and you won't have done anything too horible to a classic.
So yeah I would hot rod it for sure,
but I would not cut the top,
just drop the thing very very low.

I thought it was a Woods Electric. Neat cars and they are BIG... Saw one at Hershey and was amazed at the size.

I think it would make a killer 60's style custom. The roof lines are killer. I woluldnt chop it.

Ignorance is bliss, right? In today's economy the 1 thing that's yet to go away is the value of investment grade cars. And taking something unique (read valuable) and cutting it up is just plain ignorant. I doubt that's what's on the table here and this post is a joke/what if. And it looks too big to be an electric. That car has "Concours D'Elegance" all over it. Anything less is a waste of heritage.

Cut it up or don't cut it up... makes no difference. It's only original if you leave it the way it is. "Restoring" is no different than chopping.

    Have at it.

No . I would restore it and find something else to chop up . That car looks to solid for a real old car and intact .

Let it be. Sell it and spend your first couple of grand on a T body to chop.

That car is huge...or the guy in the photo is a Dwarf!

NFW should this thing be touched, other than to get it running (if possible). What a magnificient vehicle and a tribute to the old American way of building things - back when people took pride on their product.

that's exactly what i was thinkin', and it would be sacreligious to cut it up, but you have to admit, it looks pretty cool chopped and dropped. what's it worth dollar wise, any clues?

Geees was I surprised when I opened this thread this AM and saw it went three pages already!! Some clarifications:

    1) The car is not in any danger of being chopped.
    2) I don't own it but only saw it on the internet and was making more of a comment/joke about how TALL the roofline is on some of the late teens, early 20's cars and how such a unique car WOULD make a radical rod.
    3) As stated before by a knowledgable HAMB'er it is a Woods body on a Stanley Steamer chassis that was saved in the 40's by Barney Pollard.
    4) Even if I owned it, I could not chop it.
    5) Just pointing out how HUGE some older cars were and putting out there that sometimes when making a unique street rod, having something so Huge might be pretty awsome.
    6) after looking at the photochopped car, that thing DOES look way cool with a haircut!!

Yeah-the chop/lowering pic is tuff. If it was mine, I'd call Leno then go buy a 40 ford. But that car is beautiful AND priceless as is.

Does this thread get anyone else besides me thinking that something truely radical and weird might make a great rod??
