  1. Or do you think if it was good enough for Henry it's good enough for me? HRP

    Good enough for me

  3. I replace it
    I hate wood
wish my house was welded together

  4. I kept the original wood in the deuce, all the sheet metal is original and the wood was perfect so it is still in place.

    no wood
    Henry was cheaper than me

  6. Danny as you now the Center Door has loads of wood in it.
I have only replaced where necessary so my option if it's okay leave well alone, however if it looks suspect and you can tell with wood, replace where necessary.
    I did replace the flooring.
Steel is real and Wood is good. :D

I replace the wood with metal in the As. But that’s because i never got one nice enough to have good wood in them lucky if they got a floor at all.

  9. Wood. It is everywhere in my cabriolet, sub-rails, cross-rails, B-pillars, doors, top, etc. the body was skinned over the wood structure. It took me several years to fit and replace it all.

I'm not a fan of wood in general, but it's staying!

I heard he did the same thing with the larger truck cab before he started making the Cabs out of metal.

Have done both, Wood probably insulates noise/heat better but with all the new insulation out there I tend to lean towards steel, I personally can work with steel better than wood . I guess it all comes down to what one prefers....... floor in a 32 fordor we just did .....

That steel floor...Man, it's great. The Coupe? It's "A flivver no more"!
I'm still debating about wood or steel in my '27 Hiboy tub. Steel has it, but the wood floor inserts are Sooo sound insulating. (like you'd notice in an open bathtub with big H-P!)

My 31 from years ago , had 3/4 wood for flooring. I look back and I guess it was okay. I bought it like that. That was the only one. I prefer overkill and plenty of safety. 27 T is all new metal as in subframe, floor and frame. Solidfy is my motto.

Thank you. That car is solid as a rock. No squeaks or rattles with that steel floor all welded in. I have that peel and stick roofing material over the steel. Then 1/2" carpet padding, then carpet, then pads over the carpet. It is surprisingly quiet for a 92 year old body.

Depends on the car and the configuration. My newest project, the Arin Cee Roadster, shows how well an all-wood floor can be built into a '28 - '29 Model A highboy roadster. Wood like this exterior grade 3/4" plywood is relatively light weight and requires no substructure for rigidity. It also requires no soundproofing and is easily removed for repairs and/or frame and running gear modifications. Won't work for everybody in every case but this is the second Model A I've built this way and I like it.

Well a 40 ford does not have much wood but I did choose to glue some 1/8 inch aluminum to the bottom of the front floor boards and the top of the trunk tool box covers.
