I don't remember this car ever being wrecked.
This car was built with a 351 Cleveland. I worked on the chassis at Pete & Jakes!
Later, rebuilt & painted red with a SBC, after to many heating problems with the 351, (which later was found to be an incorrectly installed head gasket!)
    I bought it from Tom.

  7. Yes ... Billy B was a longtime family friend ... and I can attest that he was definitely a "character" :D ... RIP my friend :(

Here's some pics of the Poncho-powered, Butterscotch Yellow '29 Hiboy on Deuce Rails Billy built in the early '70s:

This staged "1950s Filling Station" photo was taken at a gas station on Main St. in Pleasanton, California.

  8. I spent lots of time chatting with Billy as the passenger in (or behind the wheel of) his FE-powered Ol' Blue '29 Hiboy on Deuce Rails he built in the late '70s:

  9. FYI … only the second ‘29 Hiboy (with unpainted aluminum hood) was built by Magoo … all others were owner built.

  12. I have many favorite "Model A's on Deuce Rails", but one of my all time favorites is still Morty's RODZY.

In 1993, I picked Mark's roadster for my father's memorial award (i.e., the "Deuce Bruce Olson Memorial Award"):

  13. Another one of my all time favorite "Model A's on Deuce Rails" is my friend Rich "Pure Hell" Guasco's (1961 AMBR winning) '29 Roadster:

Wasn’t one of those fitted with a V12 Ferrari , I seem to remember an article / feature in Street Rodder circa late 78/ early 79 ?

  15. No ... That was Brian Burnett's (Magoo-built ) 1932 Ford (i.e., not Model A) Roadster ... known as Deucari.

I wasn't going to post pics of my car, but you can see how much influence these cars have had on me.

  21. HEMI32, what happened to Burnham's yellow car? And RODZY is one of my favorites too. The first time I saw it at Pleasanton I thought it was the neatest Model A on 32 rails I'd seen.

  22. I’m not sure who owns it now (2022) …. but here it is (parked next to Ol’ Blue) at the 2017 GG’s West Coast Nats in Pleasanton when HAMBer @V8RPU owned it:

Its funny, I get complimented on a A with an A chassis these days, and yet I still know a ton of people putting A bodies on Deuce chassis.

The Deuce chassis has a good look, its the normal go to it seems, but I like my A chassis under an A. They both have cool function and form though.

Another totally biased reply, but I was heavily influenced when I built this car by the greats you see posted in this thread. 20200909_165901.jpg

I just finished mine. '28 on '32 rails. If I wasn't so stupid and could figure out how to post picts, I gladly would.

    It's a runner for sure.

  28. Gary at Cornhuskers, built a multitude of hiboy frames but the photo he sent me is the one and only finished car he built for a customer, the car featured a full race flathead with everything chrome plated and polished with a completely chromed undercarriage, the customer wanted to emulate Rich Guasco's purple AMBR roadster only he wanted it sierra Gold
