Wound up getting one of these for the '31. Rechargeable portable bluetooth amp/speaker that syncs with my phone $24.99 and decent sound. Fits perfectly in the cut down package tray. Called an Oontz Angle 3.

When, and if, I ever get it back from body guy, I'm installing bluetooth amp under seat or behind dash where original speaker was located. I'll run tunes from phone through amp. dash.png amp.png Dash now has no hole for radio, only heater/ac control and vents.

  4. I have a Motorola 251 (1947) "radio" that is converted to bluetooth. I mounted the speakers inside the case. The original buttons operate the bluetooth module.
I also have a Motorola ,`1948 that is converted to be a CD player, no radio, speakers are mounted inside the case. I did both conversions..

  7. My old heap apparently had one judging from the cut out in its original dash. Wonder what radio the old boy used back then?

No radio, heater, “ports” for “devices”, AC, it bangs and squeaks and is loud. If I want all the creature comforts, I drive my truck.

  10. I've always had some sort of music source in my cars. I don't always use them, but like to have it if I want it. The first pics are the "system" in my 31 pick-up. It is an old 50's Zenith leather cased radio, gutted with a JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speaker inside & use my phone for the source. It is amazing as to how well it works. The other photo is a system I built out of a 50's Samsonite Wardrobe case. I installed the stereo, amp and 4 speakers in it and we used it in the cargo area of my wife 62 Falcon Squire. I bought a matching Samsonite train case to use as a CD case too.

just installed a radio /cd player in the glove box of my 66 Chevy truck. I need to do some soul searching to get it where you can hear it on the road, I love the sound of my mill but am a music freak. I am going to work on some more sound/heat dampening material. Am planning on a newer radio/cd player in my 73 Merc cruzer as it only has am radio, however there is the best classic country station out of neighboring states, Ft. Dodge, Ia., but easy to get out of range and then it's just ?Rush Limpdick or some other goofy broadcasts.

The wife and I did Route 66 in 2008 with no radio. A lot of folks questioned our sanity but we never had a problem and never missed a radio...at all.
